How to get to Shipstern Bluff ,Cape Raoul
The closest big city isHobart
To get to Shipstern Bluff fly into Hobart and head out to Port Arthur. Drive
along Nubeena Road towards Nubeena turning off just before it towards onto
Stormlea Road.Follow this road near to the end and it will lead you into
Cape Raoul Nat. Park. Park your car at the sign to Shipstern Bluff and follow
the track. It's about a two hour walk. The scenery will knock you over, so plan for a full day with food and water, especially if you are surfing. Port Arthur is about 1.5 hours drive from Hobart.
The walk into Shipsterns is breathtaking. The wave at Shipstern Bluff pushes the boundaries of an ever increasing level of talent in Tasmanias surfing community. To those hardy, some would say fool hardy first few that took on the challenge of surfing these great waves of the Tasman peninsula we take our hats off and give them our respect. A wave like shipsterns that went watched by few until one brave soul thought what the heck and braved the chilly water and started to tame this beast. This act of surf bravery and to keep it from the glamour seekers of the corporate surfing world showed a real soul surfing spirit.
